This paper firstly studies feasibilities of SCMA in logging cable telemetry systems (LCTSs) with an optimal 16-point codebook. The orthogonal frequencies within bandwidth are divided into groups and elements in each group are treated as users which are modulated by codebooks. An optimal (6,16,2,4)-SCMA codebook is designed for LCTSs by two 64-point real constellations. It is demonstrated that SCMA outperform Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) and low density signature LDS on transmission rate, bit error rate (BER) performance, peak-to-average power ratio and robustness of sampling frequency offset.
