Single-Phase Electric Meter Exhibiting Wireless Connectivity
This research came in response to the country’s loss of electricity caused by many reasons, and due to the difficulty of dealing with existing traditional electric meters, this work aimed Firstly, to design and implement single-phase electric meters that can measure the real consumed Voltage and Current; calculate the real-time Power Factor (PF), the power, current power consumption, the accumulated power consumption, and provide a consumer-friendly display that shows the customer related information in an easy way (such as consumed power, voltage, withdrawn current, accumulated electricity cost). Secondly, this study aimed to solve the reading difficulty issues by designing a communication protocol with transmission data control frames to support two-way wireless communication, additionally, the Mobile Reading Software (MRS) was implemented and tested, resulting in a complete system can provide the ability to read all surrounding meters (less than 200-meter distance) on-the-move remotely.
