There is very often encountered in practice that the captured image suffers from limited contrast due to various reasons. In such cases the visibility of the details from the captured scene is reduced. Among many proposed methods for image contrast enhancement the tone mapping approaches based on the image histogram are probably the most known due to their simplicity of implementation. In this paper we propose a novel histogram based method for image contrast enhancement.
