With the unprecedented level of integration of the machine, and drive, numerous factors influence the harmonic content of the position signal. This paper outlines a preliminary discussion on the influence of these harmonics and presents the position harmonic relationship to output torque ripple through analysis, simulation and experimental data. Further, the effect of control system parameters that influence the behavior of harmonic propagation is also discussed.
