Previous studies have been conducted on different areas and samples and the motivation, level, etc. of the students to participate in recreational activities. Although it has been examined from the perspective of tourism guidance students in the selection of recreational activities, it is important to have any study examining the effect of personality traits in the literature and to provide ideas to the relevant people as well as to be a study that will benefit from the elimination of deficiencies. Methodology: The survey technique, one of the quantitative research methods, was preferred in this study. In the study, convenience (accidental) sampling was preferred among non-probabilistic sampling techniques. Percentage, frequency, correlation and regression analysis were used in the study. Findings: As a result of the data analysis made in the research, a questionnaire was applied to 216 students studying in the tourism guidance department; Incomplete and incorrectly filled questionnaires were excluded from the analysis. In this context, the data obtained from 193 students were analyzed. It was determined that the most dominant personality traits of tourism guidance students were conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness and extraversion, respectively, while the lowest shown personality trait was neuroticism (emotional balance). It has been determined that the most effective reason for choosing the recreational activities of tourism guidance students is the convenience of the time, while the least affecting reason for their preference is the healthy life programs on TV. Originality/Value: In this study, the fact that tourism guidance students' personality traits revealed the degree of effectiveness in the selection of recreational activities, and the fact that there were no previous studies in tourism guidance students in which two variables were found together indicate the originality of the study. Limitations: The fact that this study consists of only Afyon Kocatepe University Tourism Guidance students constitutes the limitation of the study.
