HDL based controller for continuous multiple vital health parameters monitoring system for record keeping
Continuous monitoring of vital health parameters has become essential with the increase in the number of people who require those. These include elders, post-surgery patients, heart patients, and even healthy people who have high health conscious. The extent of medical support required by such people varies from person to person. Monitoring of multiple parameters include heart rate, temperature, pressure, blood oxygen level, sugar level etc. The system monitoring multiple parameter should also keep in pace with them. As the number of parameters to be monitored keeps increasing, there should be enough storage space for the large amount of data to be stored which is going to get accumulated with time. Microcontroller based systems for monitoring multiple parameters are not enough to cater the speed, bandwidth requirements. In this paper we discuss about the development of a VLSI based controller which uses AMBA-APB (Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture - Advanced Peripheral Bus) interface bus to store the health parameters in the memory for record keeping.
