Após o controle da crise álgica, a sedação e o uso de opioides foram suspensos, houve reinserção de sólidos na alimentação, trazendo maior satisfação à paciente que não falava, mastigava, deglutia e evitava qualquer mobilidade física por medo da dor. Conclusão: A prática realizada por enfermeira oncologista e laserterapeuta proporcionou a visão de novas possibilidades para pacientes oncológicos que apresentem dores em regiões distantes do tumor, trazendo maior qualidade de vida ao permitir o atendimento das necessidades humanas básicas comprometidas poreste sintoma por vezes tão incapacitante. ABSTRACT Introduction: In patients with extensive tumors in the occipital region, compression of nerves and vessels may occur, resulting in pain in the trigeminal nerve pathway. Low intensity laser therapy is known as an alternative way to control various types of pain. Objective: To describe the experience of applying local laser therapy in patients with facial algia by tumor compression. Method: Experience report on the application of low intensity laser therapy in the control of disabling paroxysmal hemifacial pain, resulting from tumor damage in the posterior region of the brain, in a reference hospital in neurosurgery. Results: With the application of laser therapy on points distributed along the hemiface, a significant improvement of the pain was observed since the first application, which continued to be performed every four hours for two consecutive days. After the control of the algic crisis, the sedation and the use of opioids were suspended, there was a reinsertion of solids in the diet, bringing greater satisfaction to the patient who did not speak, chewed, swallowed and avoided any physical mobility for fear of pain.
