The efficiency of cognitive representation and its relationship to the development of historical investigation among students of the College of Education- Kirkuk University

The current study aims to identify (the level of efficiency of cognitive representation and its relationship to the development of historical investigation among students of the College of Education) The study sample consisted of (200) students in the Department of History, College of Education, University of Kirkuk. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared a scale for the study represented by (the cognitive representation scale), which included (25) items, and the researcher adopted the (historical investigation scale) prepared by Abdul Qadir (2018), which included seven groups and (35) items, and the researcher verified the validity of the two tools. and their reliability. By using the appropriate statistical means, the results were analyzed that showed: 1- There is a high level of cognitive representation of information among the students of the history department. 2- The level of possession by students of the history department of the historical investigation is good. 3- There is a positive effect and a clear relationship of the cognitive representation of information on students' development of historical investigation. According to the results, the researcher came out with a number of recommendations, including enriching the curricula with content that depends on thinking skills and nourishing the mind by increasing activities and modern strategies, training students practically on acquiring information and generating ideas and investing their abilities to raise their cognitive efficiency, and the researcher suggested conducting a study on the level of cognitive representation and its relationship to acquisition Students creative thinking skills in history.
