It is a non-surgical procedure of Ayurveda indicated for the management of haemorrhoids. Kshara is alkaline in nature derived from a combination of various herbs that is applied to the pile mass with the help of a special slit proctoscope. A patient has internal 2nd degree haemorrhoids with complaints of protrusion of piles, discomfort in ano and bleeding per rectal. Under local anaesthesia (2% lignocaine hydrochloride infiltration) Ksharakarma was done with plant alkali of having strong potency (Tikshna Kshara) of Achyaranthesa spera. Post procedure dressing was done with Jatyadi oil and Ayurvedic laxative was prescribed. After 21 days, complaints i.e. piles protrusion got reduced, VAS pain score after treatment was 0 and bleeding was stopped. The result manifests that Ksharakarma is useful modality in treatment of 2nd degree internal haemorrhoids without recurrence.
