The axial magnetic field achievable from an electro-magnetic solenoid is first obtained using analytical formulations. The same is validated with the help of simulation using general purpose commercial software CST Studio. The electromagnetic design is complemented with the proper wire selection and thermal design for successful realisation of the solenoid.
