In order to solve the fluctuation of the output power of photovoltaic cells, a combined system of variable-speed pumped storage and flexible direct current(DC) transmission is constructed to improve the stability of the grid. Construct a combined system model to study variable speed pumped storage unit under the fluctuation of photovoltaic output to improve the stable operation ability of the combined system. The variable speed pumped storage unit-photovoltaic-flexible DC transmission combined system model was built in Matlab, and different photovoltaic output modes were set. Finally, the simulation characteristics of variable speed pumped storage are obtained.
