Structural representation of management and control information in broadband networks
The authors investigate the structural representation of real-time network control and management of asynchronous transfer modes (ATM)-based networks. The network architecture consists of four planes that model the information transport, connection management and control, resource monitoring and management, and resource management and control functions. A fifth plane represents the architecture for network management based on the open systems interconnection (OSI) management paradigm and provides for operations, administration and maintenance tasks. The storage of information is based on a set of inheritance and containment trees of network objects.<>
