The main objective of the speed control technique is reduced torque ripples and improved control performance achieved using matrix converter-based PID controller. Speed control performance optimisation is attained using particle swarm optimisation algorithm. The potential benefits of matrix converter are flexible current profile and lowest switching frequency, hence, minimal loss.
