The transmitted bits must be channel-encoded as they are particularly critical to the error performance of the OFDM system. This fact results in a high increase of the system complexity. Additionally, the wrong estimation of the SI leads to the damage on the total signal recovery and the loss of the entire OFDM sequence. For these reasons, we propose in this paper, a new robust technique based on selected mapping (SLM) scheme. The proposed method is based on a new form of embedded signaling such as the use of the discrete cosinus transform (DCT). Furthermore, we employ an optimized scheme during the estimation process, using the higher order statistics moments.
