Women Empowerment: Focusing on the African Woman

Although pots of ink and tons of prints have been expended on the gender question, nevertheless, most commentators on gender issues have not really addressed them in such logical and conceptual manner as to put the women problems in proper perspective. This is what this paper is aimed at correcting. The paper does not seek to argue for the equality of men and women or the replacement of male domination with a stronger female domination, but for the empowerment of women through the removal of the constitutional, cultural and social shackles that have tended to hinder their development and self-actualization over the ages.
