These included 32 sliding hernias, 16 paraesophageal, 2 mixed, 1 with acquired short esophagus and 2 with congenital short esophagus. In 17 cases the approach was through the chest, in 35 through the abdominal cavity and in 1 through the chest and abdominal cavity.
