Enhancing computer ethics by increasing collaboration and peer learning

It has been said that students learn more when they are actively engaged in coursework. With this is mind our course in Computer Ethics has been significantly changed to increase collaboration and enhance peer learning. A large portion of this change was made possible by using the Web-Based Course Management System, Blackboard Course Info and designating the course "speaking intensive". Educators everywhere are learning to use the Internet as a powerful tool in the assistance of teaching and learning. The Internet extends the effectiveness of the classroom experience and turns it into an exciting and interactive education environment. One of the fastest growing areas in the technology-mediated educational arena is the use of the Internet by colleges and universities to supplement face-to-face courses with online components. This paper discusses how a Computer Ethics Course used Course Info to strengthen cooperation and education and evaluates the result of the course participants.
