‘Interprit’: A computerised self‐access course for beginners in interpreting
Abstract The present article presents the present‐day British scene where many graduates will have to do liaison interpreting for their firms in their postgraduate careers in industry. The authors describe a course which was developed for students of Italian in their final year at university. There are limitations in the system, in so far as it can only partially imitate real life, but on the other hand, modern students are at ease with computers. The program has a main menu, a screen providing them with background information, a description of the situation (in English and Italian), an interview presented in questions and answers, the interview in its entirety, the original as well as their own renditions of it.
