Electromagnetic Wave Exposure Level from Mobile Base Station Around Residential Area
In recent years, the mobile phone has become the most significant device in our daily lives. The increasing mobile phone users have an effect on the increase in the number of base stations or cell towers. Thus the problem arises due to concerns from residential regarding electromagnetic radiation produced by the base station. A measurement for electrical field strength and magnetic field was done at Universiti Teknologi Mara Shah Alam campus and the other four points around Shah Alam city. Measurements were taken by using TS-EMF equipment for two weeks duration with a different time interval. The equipment was placed 50 meters from the base station with a height of 2 meters above the ground. From the results obtained, the residential exposure varies from 0.83 V/m to 7.3 V/m with the maximum value of radiation level recorded at the dense area at night.
