A failure such as sudden capacity loss could cause catastrophic damage and loss. Li-plating, a reason causing short circuit and capacity loss, is arousing researchers' and manufacturers' interest today. Based on mechanisms of Li-plating, this paper proposed a new approach to detect the occurrence of Li-plating. With the simulation of Li-plating using COMSOL, the proposed Li-plating occurrence model is implemented under different conditions.
