Hypertension has become a significant problem, being already established in high income courtiers and also emerging in low and middle income countries. (LMICs) experiencing epidemiological transition from communicable to non-communicable chronic diseases. The participants were interviewed and examined individually. At the end of the interview and examination, study participants were counselled regarding the importance of getting their blood pressure checked at frequent intervals and obtaining treatment if levels were higher than normal. Among hypertensives, 83.9% were those who did not consume smokeless form of tobacco. Majority of participants who are in hypertensive stage were unemployed.
