Effect of inhomogeneity on the determination of density of states for current carriers in insulators and wide band-gap semiconductors
The reliability of the determination of the density of local states in inhomogeneous samples from space-charge-limited currents is examined. It is shown that the densities of states can be determined with an error as large as several orders of magnitudes, depending on spatial distributions of the states. The energy scale may be determined to within a few kT.<>
