By engraving grooves on side-wall of the cylindrical DRA, the bandwidth and gain improved by 200% and 20%, respectively. It is observed that despite of isotropic dielectric material, the continuous disorder on the side-wall led the electromagnetic waves to penetrate out easily from the side-wall resulting improved performances. The optimized antenna operates over 7.4 GHz to 9.8 GHz with 9.5 dBi peak gain.
