Direct torque control for induction motors using matrix converters
Direct Torque Control (DTC) is becoming one of the most popular control methods for induction motors. This technique was introduced in the mid 1980's for voltage- fed PWM inverter drives. Matrix converter ( MC) may become a good alternative to voltage-source inverter (VSI). This work combines the advantages of the matrix converter with those of the DTC technique, generating the required voltage vectors under unity input power factor operation. Some simulation results demonstrating the effectiveness of the torque control response and the input power factor correction are presented.
