This paper presents the concept and components of a multimedia GIS, and the benefits of using multimedia GIS. Abstract The advancement of computer technology enables the integration of GIS and multimedia technologies, called multimedia GIS, that allows to incorporate not only spatio-temporal geographic information in image/vector format, but also multimedia geographic information in descriptive text, scanned ground photographs, graphics, digital sound and video.
