The antenna structure is simple, compact and only occupied a small space of 18×5.5×4.5 mm3. Pattern reconfigurability is achieved by using a dual band Branch-Line Coupler (BLC). BLCs are commonly used in balanced amplifiers and mixers for achieving good return loss, as well as spurious signal rejection. In antenna design area, couplers, particularly Ring Hybrid Couplers are used to get high isolation between ports. In this work, we propose the use of BLC for doing both decoupling antenna system and pattern reconfigurability. Simulated and measured S-parameters are presented in this paper.
