A graphical user interface and system to measure foot pressures in diabetic patients
Many techniques are available to analyze the plantar pressure of the foot both quantitatively and qualitatively. In this paper, the two techniques that will be used to analyze the planter pressures are the Harris Mat and Tekscan. The purpose of this project is to optimize the system of measuring the plantar pressures of the feet of a diabetic patient. A correlation between the two techniques will be determined in order to save time for the physician and patient, while allowing for the prevention of ulceration in the diabetic patient. This correlation will lead to the development of a program that can process the scanned Harris Mat image and yield quantitative results. Once the image has been processed, it will be imported into a Matlab graphical user interface (GUI), where the physician can analyze pressure distributions and areas of increased pressure.
