Spatial Suppression of Jamming Signals in Extreme Conditions
Two methods of spatial suppression of jamming signals (JSs) in extreme conditions are described and analyzed. The first method protects a victim receiver (Rx) from and prevents disruption of signal reception by extremely strong JSs that can completely desensitize or even damage its input circuits. The second method protects a victim Rx with a moderate number of elements in its antenna array from a very large number of JSs. Although these methods significantly differ from each other as well as from conventional nulling, beamforming, and diversity combining, the similarity of the required hardware often allows their joint use with conventional techniques.
