Evaluation of the social and emotional competences of pre-school children
Development proceeds as a result of the interaction of heredity and environment. It can be said that positive or negative changes that may come from the environment will affect the development. The current COVID 19 pandemic is one of the important environmental effects in this context. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the social and emotional competencies of 36-60 month-old children in the on going COVID 19 process, although most of the pandemic restrictions have been lifted. The sample group of the research, which was carried out in the relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, consists of 170 children, i.e., 87 girls (51.2%) and 83 boys (48.8%), attending independent preschool in Pamukkale district of Denizli province. In the research, Preschool Social Skills Assessment Scale, Emotion Regulation Scale and Personal Information Form created by the researchers were used as data collection tools. According to the results of the study, it is seen that there is a high level of positive correlation among children's emotion regulation skills and social skills, initial skills, academic support skills and friendship skills, while there is a negative significant relationship among children's lability/negativity levels and two sub categories skills of social skills; namely, initial skills and friendship skills.
