As a consequence, performances in the evolution tasks may deteriorate. Some experiments demonstrate that pair programming is able to reduce the time spent for accomplishing the tasks while increasing the overall work quality. Pair programming is usually applied to coding; the term 'pair designing' refers to applying the practice of working in pairs to the design phase. Because of the asymmetry existing between coding and designing, pair designing could not replicate all the benefits of pair programming.
