Dinámica de inundación de una cuenca de la llanura Santafecina
This paper studies the temporal evolution, spatial distribution and frequency of occurrence of water-affected surfaces in a typical plain basin of Santa Fe Province (Argentina). The analysis was based on MNDWI time series, obtained from Landsat 8 and MODIS images of the period 2000-2021. By MNDWI thresholding, Open Water and Mixed Water surfaces were identified. In addition, the temporal fluctuation of water-affected surfaces in response to the seasonal cycle of precipitation was explored, which would be influenced by the antecedent water storage. Most of the water-affected surfaces are composed of Mixed Water, Open Water surfaces are made up of certain water bodies with a high frequency of occurrence, located in the lower part of the basin. A sector of accumulation in the upper part coincides with an area of "cañadas". In other sectors of the basin, the surfaces affected by water have low frequencies of occurrence. These results contribute to the knowledge of water dynamics of the study area, and are very useful for the planning and management of the region’s water resources.
