Usage of hand gesture recognition in various applications has gained much popularity in recent times. They are being used in various fields such as automation, medical and gaming. Hand gesture recognition is still in its developing stage. But still there are many drawbacks while recognizing hand gestures. To overcome this problem and to improve recognition rate of hand gestures, various image processing techniques are to be used. Data acquisition of the image is to be done and pre-processing is to be done to the acquired image. Then the important parameters of the image are to be extracted through the process of feature extraction. Then by improving the recognition rate of the image, the parameters are to be passed on for the purpose of controlling a virtual robotic arm.
