DA-TV: Dynamic Adaptive Television Broadcast for Mobile Users
In next generation wireless networks, the demand for high quality television (TV) services is expected to increase exponentially. To fulfill this demand, efficient resource allocation for broadcast is required. In this paper we propose Dynamic Adaptive TV (DA-TV) broadcast scheme that efficiently selects suitable transmission parameters. Our proposed DA-TV broadcast technique adapts the transmission configuration based on the operating channel conditions of the heterogeneous mobile users. In our framework, we consider feedback from the receivers in terms of their channel conditions given by Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). The feedback is implemented using a Wi-Fi link. Experimental implementation, validation, and performance evaluation of the proposed technique has been conducted. Results validate the efficacy of the proposed technique interms of considerable increase in dynamic range of useful data rate and improved Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) of the received videos.
