The power electronic transformer in this work is in form of AC/DC which includes two stages of an input rectifier and a DC/DC step-down stage and is employed in different applications such as electrical trains. The method is proposed based on Model Predictive Control (MPC) approach with the aim of voltage balancing for the capacitors in rectifier stage as well as controlling the input power factor. The main advantages of the proposed method over other existing methods are simple algorithm, notable reduction in the computational burden compared to the conventional MPC method, and simultaneous control of input current, output voltage and power factor, all with satisfactory performance.
