Eleven moderately trained men (19 to 30 years old) participated in three blind graded maximal treadmill tests for each of two different aspirin doses and a placebo condition. The treatments consisted of the following: an acute dose of 975 mg of aspirin 1 hour prior to exercise; a chronic dose of 975 mg of aspirin 3 times a day for 4 consecutive days; and a placebo of three comstarch‐filled capsules, 3 times a day for 4 consecutive days. Maximal performance was not significantly different among the treatments.
