Intolerância à Lactose: Causas, Tratamentos e Avanços Farmacêuticos

Introduction: The occurrence of cases of individuals affected by lactose intolerance has become a growing fact worldwide. Considering this reality, the motivation for choosing the theme as the object of this research occurred at a personal level, as one of the group members is affected by lactose intolerance, as well as the other two members also having cases in the family or among close friends. and/or cases of close people who experience the problem. Objective: To identify the possible causes of the high rates of individuals with lactose intolerance, highlighting the main treatments and pharmaceutical advances in the area. Results/Discussions: Use of 8 selected articles expressed in 2 detailed tables, in which the database was the academic Google, Scielo and the Virtual Library. The search consisted of descriptions such as: "Lactose intolerance" and "Lactose intolerance in adults". Having as criteria more current articles, present in a range of 5 years, and for the choice of material, articles with publications in Portuguese were selected. However, during the work, other articles, books, systematic reviews, regulations and legislation focused on the theme were used. Conclusion: Lactose intolerance is a pathology that, according to research, has significant growth worldwide, a fact confirmed based on the searches carried out. Unpleasant symptoms can be seen that affect the quality of life of individuals affected by the problem, making it necessary to have a correct diagnosis and adequate treatment according to the particularities of each case, to avoid other health problems for those who suffer from the problem.
