: The Fernando de Noronha Archipelago consists of a main island and 20 more islets or rocks, which together form the emerged portions of a set of underwater mountains. Soils in island environments are geographically restricted to one or a few regions. Thus, oceanic islands are configured as promising areas for the emergence of endemism. The Vertisols have a high productive potential, they are mineral soils occurring in flat, moderately undulating areas, depressions and sites of old lagoons, with serious temporary restriction to water percolation, little permeable, with restricted drainage, with 30% or more clay at the along the profile, and which present a pronounced change in volume according to the variation in moisture content. On the other hand, the high stickiness when wet and the high VI Geotécnicos Jovens 15 a 18 de Setembro de 2020 – Campinas SP restricts its drainage. Due to the particularities of these types of soils, studies aiming at understanding them are essential. Thus, this work aims to characterize the morphology of the Vertisols of common occurrence in the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago.
