MI-based analysis of waveform detection performance
A theory aims at analyzing the detection performance for certain waveform is presented in this paper. We consider mutual information (MI) as measurement to find the matched target which can optimize the radar detection performance. When mutual information between the received signal and the stochastic extended target under the interference from additive noise arrives at its maximization, it is believed that radar detection performance steps into the optimal state. In this paper, we utilize the spectral variation of target as an expression to describe the target's characteristics under the optimal state.
