In addition to their routine usage, wireless networks may also be utilized for public safety and humanitarian well-being. In this work, we discuss how the application of vehicular communication systems may be materialized for public safety by incorporation of remote sensing and mobile computing. Moreover, we also highlight the utility of wireless mesh networks in disaster recovery and calamity based scenarios and discuss various functional requirements for their deployment. Additionally, we articulate on the possible utilization of integrated WLANWiMAX structure for remote facilitation of clinical healthcare and present diverse deployment options in this regard.
