Since public lighting is a considerable consumer of electricity, it is important that it be as energy-efficient as possible. The paper points to the fact that the energy efficiency of public lighting can change in time. For this reason, a periodic energy audit of public lighting is necessary. The energy audit of public lighting must determine whether there are measures that can improve its energy efficiency. The energy efficiency of the entire public lighting system of a municipality or a city is difficult to evaluate. The paper presents two energy efficiency indicators that allow to evaluate the energy efficiency of the public lighting system of a municipality or a city.
