The article examines the formation of innovative potential of agricultural enterprises of Ukraine. The definition of innovative potential is considered. The clarified goal is to study the essence of the innovative potential of agricultural enterprises of Ukraine in the context of innovative development, to determine indicators, factors of the external and internal environment that influence its formation. It was determined that the components of innovative potential are divided into: market, employees, technical and technological component, interaction, erudition, research, information reference component. Four categories of innovation potential were considered: basic potential, loss-making potential, average potential. It was found that the innovation climate can be considered as all factors of the external environment that affect the innovation potential of the enterprise: opportunities for the production of new or improved types of products or services, opportunities for change social relations at the enterprise (personnel innovations), opportunities to develop new management methods (management innovations), opportunities to create new mechanisms for promoting products to the market (market innovations), opportunities to acquire know-how, patents, legal framework, low refinancing rate, preferential taxation, the interaction of government and business, the practice of technology commercialization.
