Hull is a senior fellow of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology and professor of Sacred Scripture at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, in Yonkers, New York. Although his view of 1 Corinthians 15:29 is to some extent new, he has tried to approach the text in light of earlier studies (beginning in the second century ad) while concentrating on modern exegesis. The first part of Hull’s book reviews some of the major articles and books that deal with explanations given by various Bible scholars. This is followed by a lengthy discussion of Paul’s writing style and the topics he discusses in his first epistle to the Corinthians. The last part of the book introduces Hull’s view of what Paul meant in 1 Corinthians 15:29.
