Integration method analysis between IEC 61850 and IEC 61970 for substation automation system
Both IEC 61850 [1] and IEC 61970 [2] define the access mechanism to the substation electric utility's data and data architecture. But they use a different approach in the access mechanism. IEC 61850 is defined from the internal communication standpoint whereas IEC 61970 is from the substation management standpoint. Thus, harmonization [3] is required to integrate both sides. In this paper, we'll discuss about harmonization methodology and its derivative problems and finally about the direction research should take.
