Error performance of coded SFH/DPSK in tone interference and AWGN
The coded performance of a slow-frequency-hopped differential-phase-shift-keying (SFH/DPSK) system in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and tone jamming is studied. The error correlation due to DPSK demodulation and tone jamming is considered. The range of decoded performance is computed. A study of interleaving under various conditions shows that it greatly improves performance because it eliminates the correlation between code symbol errors. A nearly optimum code rate for a length-255 Reed-Solomon code is derived for systems using interleaving techniques.<>
