This paper present a hierarchical assembly modeling approach based on the virtual environment to laser range-finder. The basic idea of virtual prototype is to construct a digital mock-up and test its performance in a virtual environment to replace to make and test physical prototype. An example of product assembly and test is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed modeling approach.
