In this paper, we present a comparative study of analytical methods and optimization techniques (specifically, fminsearch and curve fitting in MATLAB) used to determine the unknown parameters of a solar cell model. In the proposed technique, we found the initial guess of these parameters using the analytical methods, reported in the literature. These initial values were refined using fminsearch optimizer in MATLAB and compared with the results obtained by fitting the curves.
