Thus, there is a persistent need to integrate energy storage devices to deal with the intermittent nature of this source. This study proposes a novel structure of wind farms (WF) that is equipped with three doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) and one superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES). The SMES is coordinated with the WF to ensure the absolute power limitation required by the grid and to enhance the low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability under voltage sag conditions.
