Dual band low-profile zeroth-order metamaterial antenna
In this paper; we study a dual band low-profile small antenna resonating at 434 MHz and 868 MHz. The radiation mechanism of the antenna is due to the radiating posts which are connected in series to an inductor at each edge of a transmission line in between. Calibrating the flowing currents in the vias by tuning the inductances values, radiated fields are constructive in the far field region. Full-wave simulations were carried in order to study the properties of the antenna at two different frequencies. The antenna offers a fractional bandwidth of 0.73% and 1.95%, a radiation efficiency of 35.74% and 74.87% at 434 MHz and 868 MHz respectively, also a monopole-like radiation pattern is observed at each band.
