On The Joint Use of Optimal Faster Than Nyquist Signals with Polar and Turbo Codes
This work provides comparison of polar codes and turbo codes applicated to optimal Faster-than-Nyquist signals. The efficiency of the joint use of these coding techniques and optimal signals is estimated in terms of approaching the Shannon limit. For different cases, the minimum distance between the Shannon curve and the point which coordinates are the values of the spectral and energy efficiency is calculated. The use of polar codes allows to get closer to the Shannon limit of 11%. Compared to “classic” BPSK signals, optimal signals with polar coding come up with the gain about 86%.
