With a wide range in South America, it is nevertheless considered a rare species within the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. During a camera-trapping study in the Parque Estadual do Rio Doce, spanning a 17 month period (2,825 trap nights) a photograph of this species was obtained. This record provides concrete proof that the species inhabits the park and validates previous visual and song records for this species.
